The old Freeman farm was located about 9 miles north of El Dorado, KS on the West side of US 77. The Woodward post office was established on 9/21/1877 at N37.94363 W-96.85447. The name was changed from Woodward to Dixon on 12/18/1878. If you use Google Earth, you can copy and paste the following in the "Fly to" location field: 37.94363,-96.85447 You can also use Google Maps to get there as well.

I knew the old Freeman farm well during the 1970s as a child and young adult. My family farmed the land and ran cattle on it. During that time there was no evidence of a post office or small town there. West of the GPS coordinates mentioned above about 1/4 mile or so were remnants of an old railroad right-of-way.
